Two Muslim women were allegedly given triple talaq over dowry demands in the Sambhal area of Uttar Pradesh. One of the women was constantly beaten and asked for Rs 2 lakh, on the refusal of which her husband threatened to set her on fire. The husband gave her triple talaq after which she has filed a complaint with the police as well. The other unnamed woman was harassed for Rs 50,000 by her in-laws and was given triple talaq when she couldn’t produce the money. She claims that the police refuse to file a complaint on the matter. Superintendent of Police, Yamuna Prasad stated that an investigation was on for the same.
