When young talents Shobitha Krishna Das and Rahita Krishna Das belted out rhythmic beats through the chendas hung on their shoulders with the kol in their hands, it reverberated at the Theerthapada Mandapam hall in Thiruvananthapuram, where they performed. The sisters, who are the daughters of chenda maestro Kalamandalam Krishnadas, brought forth an Irratta Thayambaka performance in front of the audience, which included filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The double thayambaka was a treat for the ears as it kicked off with a soothing ‘Pathikalam’.
