Political slugfest intensifies in Rajasthan as voices grow louder over women safety

On July 21, Congress Minister Rajendra Gudha criticised his govt over recent incidents of crimes against women in the state. Rajendra Gudha faced the consequences for his remarks as he was sacked by Rajasthan Government. Slamming CM Gehlot, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla alleged that MoS was removed for speaking about plight of women in state. Notably, a few days ago, Rajasthan Congress MLA Divya Maderna raised concerns saying that even “she isn’t safe”. However, Rajasthan Excise Minister had defended the state government claiming that law and order is “top-notch”. Women safety has taken the centrestage as political debates heat up over horrific Manipur viral video. The viral video showing women being paraded naked in Manipur has sent shockwaves across the nation. However, BJP has accused Congress of selective outrage for allegedly turning blind eye to crimes against women in other states.
