A six-day vedic ceremony which begin on August 11, is underway at Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati. The vedic ceremony is held once every 12 years, during which only 30,000 devotees are allowed, which is less than one third of the regular influx. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam had earlier announced a complete ban on the entry of devotees during the six-day vedic ceremony. TTD had to take back their decision after opposition from devotees and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
