On July 01, 2016, nine-year-old Pammi Ramya along with her paternal uncle and paternal grandfather lost their lives after a drunk car driver rammed the divider and crashed into their oncoming car near Nagarjuna Circle. Ramya’s mother Pammi Radhika and her brother-in-law Pammi Ramana were the sole survivors of the crash. The incident created a state-wide outrage against the drunk drivers and since then, Ramya’s father Venkat Ramana and Radhika along with other family members have been fighting to bring in changes to the system via Ramya Act. Ramya Act, a stringent law to protect victims of drunk driving incident has been their demand ever since.
