COVID-19: Hyderabad firm develops India’s first vaccine candidate, gets DCGI nod for human trials

Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved Covid-19 vaccine developed by Hyderabad vaccine major Bharat Biotech. The firm announced that its COVAXIN has become the country’s first COVID vaccine candidate to get approval for phase one and two human clinical trials from DGCI. The company has been working on the vaccine in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research and National Institute of Virology, Pune for some time, as reported by Times of India earlier. Bharat Biotech is simultaneously working on nasal vaccine CoroFlu against Covid-19 in collaboration with American researchers of the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
