Vijay Goel wants Delhi renamed as 'Dilli'

BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Goel demanded that the spelling of Delhi be changed to ‘Dilli’. He raised the query in the question hour session of the Upper House. “Many people are anyway confused about the name as some call it Delhi while some others call it Dilli,” Goel said in a press statement. The BJP leader argued that like many Indian cities like Mumbai and Kolkata, Delhi should also be renamed. “There are also certain names whose spellings were rectified. So Cawnpore became Kanpur, Monghyr became Munger, and Orissa became Odisha,” Goel said.
