Phone seized from Om Prakash Chautala's cell in Tihar
Tihar Jail security officers seized a mobile phone from the prison cell of former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala. Chautala has been lodged in the jail in a corruption case. The Android phone was found during a surprise inspection on Thursday. The phone, along with a charger and a pouch of tobacco, was found under the bed of Chautala’s co-inmate, Ramesh, who claimed that they belonged to him. Chautala had recently returned to jail after a 21-day parole on Wednesday. Chautala and his elder son Ajay were both convicted in 2013 in the teachers’ recruitment scam and are currently serving 10 years in prison.
