The mediators Sanjay Hegde and Sadhana Ramachandran met the protesters at Shaheen Bagh and told them that citizens are facing inconvenience due to their road blockade. Earlier, the Supreme Court had said the anti-CAA protesters cannot block public roads and create inconvenience for others. "You cannot block the public roads. There cannot be an indefinite period of protest in such an area. If you want to protest, it has to be in an area identified for protest," the bench had said. Relevantly, disapproving the continuing blockade at Shaheen Bagh and expressing the hope that good sense would prevail over anti-CAA agitators leading them to vacate the road and shift their protest to an alternative site, the Supreme Court on Monday asked senior advocates Sanjay Hegde, Sadhana Ramachandran and former chief information commissioner Wajahat Habibullah to hold consultations with the agitators.
