Lutyens’ may need water tankers, if Haryana doesn’t release more water: Delhi Jal Board
The Delhi Jal Board has informed the Delhi High Court about the imminent shortage of water this summer in the national capital including central Delhi if Haryana doesn’t release more water. DJB urged the Delhi HC to ensure that Haryana sent its quota of water supply to Delhi. It also placed letter sent by CM Arvind Kejriwal to PM Narendra Modi before the court. The Delhi CM Kejriwal, in the letter, had sought the Prime Minister’s intervention in ensuring sufficient water supply from Haryana, so that the “imminent water crisis, particularly in New Delhi Municipal Council areas and central Delhi, and generally all over Delhi, can be averted”. Since 1996, Haryana releases 1,133 cusecs of water but recently it had partially stopped the supply.
