The rise in new Covid-19 cases in Delhi over the past week has led to increase in demand for hospital beds. The occupancy of Covid beds in Delhi’s hospitals, which reduced to less than 3,000 on July 30 and continued to be so till August 5, has again crossed the 3,000 mark. From August 6 to August 12, data released by the Delhi government shows, occupancy of Covid beds has remained between 3,024 and 3,351. Dr Suresh Kumar, director of Lok Nayak hospital, informed that 43 Covid-19 patients were admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. “New admissions have increased significantly.” 1,113 fresh cases; occupancy of beds above 3,000. The doctors at Sir Ganga Ram, Indraprastha Apollo and Max hospitals also confirmed the trend.
