Delhi: Rape cases decline for second straight year
For a city that was branded as the nation’s “rape capital” in the aftermath of the Nirbhaya incident in 2012, there’s good news for Delhi. Crimes against women remained in check in 2018, according to Delhi Police commissioner Amulya Patnaik. Patnaik pointed out that despite free registration, the city did not witness a rise in number of rapes, recording 2,043 cases in 2018 against 2,059 in 2017.
