World famous music instrument ‘Saraswati Veena’ at risk of extinction

Veena making industry tried to stay afloat amid pandemic induced challenges in Thanjavur. Veena makers are facing an acute shortage of raw materials as prices have risen. Difficulties in procuring raw materials are major reasons for the decline in this craft. Veena remains an important and popular string instrument in classical Carnatic music.
