Actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth-led Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) pulled out of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) - All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) alliance on March 9. The pull out came just days before assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. The party cited non-allocation of desired seats for its candidates as the reason behind quitting the alliance.
