Chennai: No respite from waterlogging, death toll rises to 12

In just 8 days the
city has received more than 75% of its average rainfall from the northeast
monsoons. Several localities are flooded, and traffic has been badly hit. Going
about their daily tasks has become an uphill battle for residents. The district
administration has declared school holiday on 4th November as normal life in
the district has been badly hit. Meanwhile, the death toll due to the rains and
floods has reached 12. Other parts of the state have also received more than
average rainfall.
