Sarpanch seeks bribe from govt contractor, booked

The sarpanch of Hariyahera village has been booked for allegedly demanding bribe from a govt appointed contractor. Abdul Sattar allegedly stopped the govt contractor Gopal Das from doing his work claiming that he was using substandard material. He threatened to file a complaint and demanded 25000 rupees that the contractor paid to him. The sarpanch gets greedy and again demanded another 55000. Gopal Das was allegedly thrashed by the sarpanch for refusing to pay. An FIR has been registered under sections 384 (extortion), 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
