Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Montreal for the third consecutive week, rallying over the escalating Middle East conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States. Anti-war demonstrators marched through downtown carrying Palestinian, Iranian and Lebanese flags, condemning Israeli and US military operations in the region and calling for an end to bombings in Iran and Lebanon. At the same time, counter-protesters gathered nearby waving Israeli, American and Iranian opposition flags while expressing support for international pressure against the Iranian government. Some demonstrators said they were rallying to show solidarity with Iranians who they claim cannot freely speak out inside the country.
