Haryana: Aadhaar made compulsory for newborns to obtain birth certificates

As Aadhaar chaos continues, now hospitals in Haryana reportedly forcing babies to enroll in Aadhaar before they issue birth certificates. Reportedly, several parents of newborns were asked by hospital authorities in Haryana saying it was mandatory to take Aadhaar certificate for the child before they can issue birth certificates. These are the instructions that have been given out to many hospitals in Haryana and the government has in fact acknowledged it and gone on to say that this is part of their policy to keep a track on number of newborns.
