Two Indian Army veterans have come together to offer an online education platform to students of low and middle income groups at affordable prices. Maj Gen VN Prasad (Retd) and Maj DK Kumar (Retd) have set up an education platform, e Vidyalaya, offering online classrooms, digital content and learning management systems. “As the pandemic began to unfold in India, we saw that there were job losses. As a result of this, many children dropped out of school as their parents were no longer able to pay for their children's education. That is why we thought of providing an affordable education platform for students of low and middle income groups,” said Prasad, Ceo and co-founder, e Vidyalaya Edutech Systems. The duo got together and decided to come up with an online education platform which apart from offering virtual classroom services and tuitions, would also provide computational thinking, coding skills, psychometric assessment tests, coaching for various entrance exams, coaching for SSB, soft skills training, personality development, spoken English classes, foreign languages, adaptive testing and so on. e Vidyalaya Edutech Systems’s co-founder Kumar said that the fee for the computational thinking and coding has been kept reasonable so that parents with even meagre salaries could afford them. “We offer coding courses for kids at Rs 3,000 per annum whereas other platforms charge more than a lakh per year. This fee can further go down if more schools and students get involved. Similarly other online courses start at around Rs 150 to 200,” said Kumar.
