Bengaluru: IMA scam accused IAS officer BM Vijay Shankar ends life

IAS officer BM Vijay Shankar committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house in Jayanagar in south Bengaluru. Preliminary probe revealed he was under depression and was attending counselling sessions. He was suspended after being arrested for allegedly accepting bribes in the I Monetary Advisory (IMA) Ponzi case. He was arrested in July 2019 and released on bail a month later. His suspension was revoked in May this year and he was posted in Sakala Mission.
