After a usual day, 30-year-old Babubhai Parmar, a resident of Indira Colony, Anand district, Gujarat, retired to his ‘charpai’. When he woke up around 1:30 am due to loud barking of stray dogs, he realised that an 8-foot-long crocodile was taking shelter right under his cot. Later found to be pregnant, the crocodile had sneaked into Babubhai’s ‘kutcha’ house from Malataj lake, just 500 metres away. Holding on to dear life, Babubhai somehow managed to get out of the house and informed his neighbours. Forest officials arrived after about an hour. The animal was rescued and later released in the wild. The incident took place on March 25.
