Sensex rises over 100 points; Nifty above 10,150

Senior advocate and LGBTQ rights campaigner Menaka Guruswamy made her first public speech after being nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the Trinamool Congress. Speaking at a dharna in Kolkata’s Dharmatala, Guruswamy questioned why nearly 60 lakh voters in West Bengal are currently placed under the “Under Adjudication” category.Invoking constitutional principles of equality and voting rights, she raised concerns about whether the ongoing voter roll revision process could affect democratic participation. The protest forms part of TMC’s campaign against the voter list revision exercise, which the party says could lead to the exclusion of genuine voters.
