Who is more electable than Trump? Twitterati votes
NEW DELHI: After Republican nominee Donald Trump was caught in a new controversy over his lewd remarks about women, an interesting phrase became the trend on social media platform Twitter.
The hashtag #MoreElectableThanTrump was trending on Twitter with Tweeple coming out with interesting choice of candidates, the ones they thought were more eligible than the Republican party nominee to be the next US President.
And the choices were plain hilarious. From Morgan Freeman to pets, Twitterati came up with candidates from all walks of life.
Sample a few:
The hashtag started trending on the social media shortly after a video dating back to 2005 surfaced on the internet in which Trump was caught making lewd comments against women and their sexuality.
Though the business tycoon issued an apology after the video created an uproar and he drew flak from his own party members, it mostly fell on deaf ears. Even his wife Melania Trump termed his sexist comments as 'offensive and unacceptable'. "The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader," she said while urging people to forgive him for his comments just like she had.
With the US Presidential race soon coming to an end, the final battle between the Republican and the Democrat candidates has intensified manifold. And with the release of this video, the Republicans will have to leave no stones unturned for the required damage control, which, given the present circumstances, seems a bit too far fetched.
