What rock star Bruce Springsteen said about Donald Trump
NEW DELHI: American rock star Bruce Springsteen, who famously called Donald Trump a "moron", said today that the US Republican Presidential candidate puts his own interests and ego ahead of US democracy,
"This is a man whose vision is limited to little beyond himself, who has the profound lack of decency that would allow him to prioritize his own interests and ego before American democracy itself," Springsteen said today at the last Democratic rally before the US election later today.
Among other songs, Springsteen performed "Thunder Road" and "Dancing in the Dark" at the Philadelphia rally. He performed after both US President Barack Obama and Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton addressed the large rally.
In September, Rolling Stone asked the rocker what he thinks about the 'Trump phenomenon'.
"Well, you know, the republic is under siege by a moron, basically. The whole thing is tragic. Without overstating it, it's a tragedy for our democracy," he said.
About Clinton, he then said, "I like Hillary. I think she would be a very, very good president."
At today's rally in Philadelphia, Springsteen spoke some more about why he will vote for Clinton.
"The choice tomorrow couldn't be any clearer. Hillary's candidacy is based on intelligence, experience, preparation and of an actual vision of America where everyone counts. Men and women, white and black, Hispanic and native. Where folks of all faiths and backgrounds can come together to address our problems in a reasonable and thoughtful way," he said.
He was referring to Trump's very divisive campaign.
"Let's all do our part so we can look back on 2016 and say we stood with Hillary Clinton on the right side of history. That's why I'm standing here with you tonight, for the dream of a better America," Springsteen concluded.
