The butler said it: Donald Trump disowns ex-aide who wanted Obama killed
WASHINGTON: Billionaire Republican frontrunner Donald Trump has disavowed racist comments by his former butler calling for President Obama to be hanged and shot for treason, even as the US Secret Service said it would investigate the matter. Anthony Senacal, 74, who served as Trump's personal aide for nearly two decades, has been unleashing a blizzard of racist and xenophobic comments on social media for several weeks now, but his latest posts ignited a firestorm on Thursday even as the Trump campaign moved swiftly to douse it, suggesting he is unhinged and is no longer in the billionaire's service.
"Tony Senecal has not worked at Mar-a-Lago (a Trump home in Florida) for years, but nevertheless we totally and completely disavow the horrible statements made by him regarding the President," the Trump campaign said in a statement, adding that he is a "troubled" man. Troubled would be an understatement going by Senecal's rants that appear to have gotten progressively more rabid over time.
"Just a short note to you on our pus headed `president' !!!! This character who I refer to as zero (0) should have been taken out by our military and shot as an enemy agent in his first term !!!!!" he wrote in a post on Wednesday . "Instead he still remains in office doing everything he can to gut the America we all know and love!!!!!" In other posts, Senecal referred to Obama a "Kenyan fraud," and said the President should be "hung for treason."
He also said Obama is a Muslim, and said Muslims are "invading our country," spouting the familiar fear-mongering among extreme rightwing elements in America.
The former butler compounded it with even more provocative comments to a slavering media that called for "clarifications," saying Obama should be hung from the portico of the White House, which he called a "white mosque."
Hatred for Muslims and blacks coursed out of his foul mouth to the extent he wanted some black majority cities in the US bombed.
Senecal's unfiltered rants are part of a worsening discourse in an campaign that some pundits fear will be the most incendiary ever. All major players are said to be digging for dirt now and there is already enough muck and madness for the media to feast on, some involving the media itself.
Friday's froth included exposes about how Trump often masqueraded as a spokesman named John Miller to promote himself to the media over the phone in the 1980s and 1990s. Disclosure of this con in the Washington Post on Friday resulted in an immediate backlash from Trump, who accused the paper's new owner, the online giant Amazon's Jeff Bezos, of using the publication to avoid taxes and protect the parent company's monopoly.
Trump threatened to go after Bezos for anti-trust issues if he becomes president.
Trump supporters continued their attacks on Hillary Clinton, digging up dirt on her investment banker son-in-law (Chelsea Clinton's husband) who allegedly lost clients millions of dollars after persuading them to invest in Greece. Another story related to the Clinton Foundation doling out money for an energy project to a "blonde bombshell" friend of the former President. And there are almost six more months to go for the election.
