LUDHIANA: The finance minister failed to make city youth happy as the prices of mobile phones and luxurious imported cars have increased. And as if this was not enough, the government has also hiked the service tax for dining in an air conditioned restaurant.
Aprova Mahajan, a student residing in Durgi, said, "The interest rates of educational loan should have been reduced by the government.
Besides this loan procedure is very complicated, but the government has not even taken these issues in consideration. They have provided educational scholarship but only to a few categorized students. I feel the government should have motivated all students by giving them various benefits."
Another student Rupam Gill, a resident Basant Avenue, said, "I am crazy about latest mobile phones and government has disappointed us by raising the prices of these. This is not acceptable. They should have keep youngsters in mind while making the budget. Mobile phones are not only for entertainment as they also help us in our studies." Nikhil Ghai of BRS Nagar, said, "Almost all youngsters are crazy about buying latest mobile phones and imported cars. By increasing the prices of these commodities the government has completely disappointed the younger generation."
