NEW DELHI: Ever wondered how much property GoI owns — land, buildings, roads, bridges, machinery all put together? It topped Rs 2 lakh crore in 2011-12, with land accounting for 60%.
Assets, like shares and loans, owned by government are worth Rs 6.9 lakh crore. The worth of all vehicles owned by government (Rs 1,959 crore) is thrice that of all irrigation (Rs 332 crore) and power (Rs 325 crore) projects combined.
Government assets rose in value by 4% in 2011-12.
