Indian farmers, agri scientists and agribiotech firms can pull out their farm tools and research equipments as the $5 billion Indian biotechnology industry got a small booster dose of funds and knowledge inputs from P Chidambaram's Budget.

Indian farmers, agri scientists and agribiotech firms can pull out their farm tools and research equipments as the $5 billion Indian biotechnology industry got a small booster dose of funds and knowledge inputs from P Chidambaram's Budget.
The agribiotechnology sector got Rs 200 crore for piloting biotech engineered nutri-farms for the production of iron-rich bajra, protein-rich maize and zinc-rich wheat.

The sector got its very own institute, The Indian Institute of Agricultural Bio-technology, that's proposed to come up at Ranchi. It also got a National Institute of Biotic Stress Management at Raipur.
