Dalit-centric channel to go on air

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) is all set to launch its own 24x7 television channel, Velichcham TV. The channel, according to a news report, will be launched today on the occasion of Dr Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary. VCK is a political party with a strong Dalit base. The channel is likely to have six news bulletins and with other slots dedicated to entertainment programmes.

The channel is expected to present the Dalit perspective and the ideology of the party. Interestingly, this will be the first Tamil channel promoted by a Dalit party.
