TV Celebs on ‘Friendship Day’

Kavita Kaushik

For me, my dad is my best friend in the family. Besides him, Sakshi Tanwar and Aashka Goradia are my good friends. I love going on a long drive or for a movie with them. Sakshi and Aashka are my soul sisters. When it comes to workout buddies, I don’t like having companions in the gym otherwise I won’t be able to work out. A friendship that has turned sour I forget as I totally believe in forgetting and forgiving. That’s how I stay fit. I don’t have time for revenge.

Says Mohit, “Sanaya and I often hang out with Barun Sobti, Pashmeen, Akshaye Dogra, Raqesh Vashisht and Riddhi Dogra and Gautam Hegde. We don’t need a Friendship Day to celebrate our bond, because whenever we meet is a celebration of the deep bond that we share.”

Friendship is the idea of living a meaningful life. At the end of your life if you feel you have a bank full of memories while living, friends are the account keepers who make sure that your bank is always full and you never go bankrupt of memories. Ashish, BK, Jayu, Nandu, Pavan, Sandy, Manish are bunch of friends who are very important to me.

I consider my sister Naina to be my best friend as I believe there's no better friend than a sister. Yes we do have our share of fights but we are confident that at the end of the day there will be no back stabbing, gossip behind our back and our secrets will be respected. Every relationship is based on trust and I can bet my life that I can trust Naina more than myself. She knows me more than I would know myself! We do not have to please each other or be diplomatic. I can always be myself without being judged. We love going on holidays together and enjoy ourselves to the core. Another reason why our relationship can be labelled as friends is because we are equally crazy and fun loving people! We love each other no matter what.

Alekh Sangal, Nakuul Mehta and I have been friends for the last 13 years. Our friendship started in college and while our remaining friends decided to do their MBA, we three decided to become actors. We did theatre together and then started our journey in tinsel town. We have shared each other’s successes and failures. For us if anyone succeeds amongst the three of us feel the same amount of happiness. In times of failure we are always there to encourage each other and remind each other that we have already come a long way. For us, every day is a ‘Friendship’s Day’ when we are together.

A friend is someone- who can understand you from the way you say hello, who promises to walk with you in thick and thins, good and bad, who can make you laugh unconditionally, who wipes your tears and gives you strength. For me, my darling friend Dolly defines true friendship. She dolls up my life unconditionally and gives me interest free joy. My funniest moment with Dolly is when she books a film show for me only to inform me that she has booked a wrong show and now it's earlier than the one booked previously. It makes me literally run 20 kms at a short notice of 30 minutes just to be on time for the movie!

My best friend is Gaurav Agarwal and we know each other for 10 years now. We were out of touch for a few years in between when we only used to wish each other on New Years. But then one day Gaurav said lets meet and there's been no looking back since then. I love the fact that Gaurav is non-judgmental and he stands by me whether I am right or wrong. When I am wrong, he will point it out but he'll still be by my side. He's the calming factor in my life and says 'All good bro' to every challenge that comes our way. It's a friendship I cherish.

Meaning of friendship is accepting each other for who they are, thinking of the other before oneself, forgiveness under any circumstances and feeling each other's joys and pains. That is exactly why my wife Ritu is my best friend.

I strongly believe that, you have to be lucky to get ‘real’ friends in life. I am lucky to have found friends in my cotemporaries – Neha Pendse, Sonali Khare and Shruti Marathe. For those who think two actresses can’t be friends, I have not one but three actresses as best friends. We haven’t got a chance to meet after my ‘Nach Baliye’ win. I had promised to take them on a trip, if I win ‘Nach’ so now we are in the process of planning a trip to Maldives. We are each other’s biggest critics as well as admirers. It’s our long time wish to watch all episodes of ‘The Sex & The City’ at one go. We hope to do that for ‘Friendship Day’.

I take long time to become friends with anybody. Friendship doesn’t happen because of person’s particular trait. Friendship simply connects you to the other person! My best buddies are Mansi Scott, Suchitra Pillai and Shweta Salve. We love to spend time with each other whenever it’s possible. We had loads of fun recently at the farewell party of one of our good friend, Sagarika (Mukherjee). We just sat and laugh over silly things. On this Friendship Day, I would like to thank my wonderful friends for being part of my life and in simple terms, just being there for me.

I think a friend should be like a mother who is always there with you, who understands you, has faith in you and most importantly loves you unconditionally. Thats' why my mother means the world for me. It's a relation that I can never be undone.

Friendships Day is one day which we all have been celebrating since school. Friends are an important part of my life and I value each of them very much. I have few friends but they all are very dear to me. From the industry, Barkha Bisht is my closest friend. Also the entire cast of 'Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyar' including Ashwini Kalsekar, Kishwer Merchant, Darshan Pandya are really good friends of mine. I firmly believe that that such relations need to be celebrated entire year and not on just one day.

Friends are the family that you get to choose and I value all my friends a lot. I do have a group of friends whom I regularly hang out with and they all are very dear to me. Even the entire cast of 'Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyar' is very close to me. We used to celebrate Friendship’s Day in a big manner when we were in school and college by making friendship bands of close friends. So on this day, I would just like to wish all the friends and fans and a very happy friendship’s day.

A friend is someone who accepts you the way you are. It’s a bond we choose and are not born with. I feel blessed to have some really good friends and even though there is no communication for a long time, it always starts off from where it last ended. Hence I cherish all my friends and on this day I would like to wish all my fans a very Happy Friendship’s Day.

For me friendship is something pure. I believe in having less friends but true ones. I make it a point to celebrate friendship day with my buddies every year over lunch or dinner. After entering the industry I have developed a strong bond Aham Sharma. He is my best friend.

Friends are special and I consider them as a part of my family. Celebrating friendships day now takes me back to my childhood days. In school we used to tie friendship band on friends wrist. My younger brother has always been my best friend and will always be one for lifetime. After taking up acting as my career, I have found a very good friend in Shashank Vyas.
