We are planning a short film on Covid-19 lockdown and our quarantine life: Gorintaku actor Nikhil Maliyakkal
The entire nation is figuring out ways to fight Covid-19 pandemic and cope up with the lockdown. The quarantine phase is helping TV celebs tap their inner talents and get creative about spending their time productively. Nikhil Maliyakkal, popularly known as Parthu from Gorintaku, has different plans. In a candid chat with ETimes TV, the actor from Mysuru talks about his quarantine life and much more.“We rejoiced when lockdown was announced thinking that we’ll finally get time to spend with family. But for an actor, sitting idle at home is the biggest punishment,” says Nikhil talking about his initial thoughts on the lockdown. He adds, “Everyone in my family of five except my dog Rosy has the households duties divided amongst us. Mine is chopping vegetables. It was great in the first week, we have decided to clean one room a day but now we are done with all the cleaning. Everyday I’m trying to find or create a new job for myself.”Nikhil has a small yet close circle to connect with during this lockdown phase. He revealed, “I have a close friend circle and Kavya (Gorintaku co-star) is one of them. We keep making video calls to each other and talk about the Covid-19 situation around us.
We also do Insta lives and keep talking to our fans, too. Earlier our conversations over phone calls used to be more brief but now they are very long, we are talking everything under the sun to kill time (laughs). The actor, who is quite missing his TV shootings, is honing his storytelling skills in this unexpected break. “I and my friends are actually bouncing ideas about a short film on the lockdown, our quarantine life and how we are coping with it. It is like documenting our own lives. We are planning to shoot it completely indoors and release once the lockdown ends. It keeps our mind engaged with something creative and also we can share our stories with the world. It is exciting,” divulges the actor.Nikhil feels this lockdown phase is helping him in ways more than one. “I’ve started cooking, helping my mom, working out. Above all, savings are happening. That’s the best part. I keep buying whatever I like but right now I’m able to avoid impulsive shopping and save something. It is good to see some money in my account (laughs),” signs off Nikhil.
