Manasu Mamatha fame Priyatham Charan on co-star Sravani's suicide: She wanted to be a good actress, could have helped had we known anything before

Young Telugu TV actress Sravani Kondapalli's unnatural death has left the industry especially her co-stars shocked. Talking to ETimes-TV, actor Priyatham Charan shared his feelings and thoughts on his late co-star, working experience with her, social media, its threats in today's world and much more.

I've started playing a dual role in Manasu Mamatha when the story took a leap and she played my sister and daughter in the show. She was slowly learning acting and picking up things. We shot for our portions and just greeted each other whenever we met later.

Like many, she wanted to be a good actress. Though she never shared her aspirations in detail with anyone. But the zeal to learn and work hard was something I've always noticed in her. In 2016 or 2017, I recall the date but she got her family to the sets of Manasu Mamatha once and we all got some pictures together. I quit the show later and we greeted each other with a smile.

When I first learnt about her suicide, I was shocked. I don't know what she is going through but all the harassment allegations that I'm hearing on the news is heartbreaking. If she needed support, we could have tried helping had we known we anything beforehand. I only wish for strength to her family.

I don't know what pushed her to take this extreme step but we must think twice before doing anything. Of late, avenues to showcase our talent have increased. But I feel self-restraint can help stay out of trouble in most cases. Not taking the attention to the head, adding only acquaintances to our social media handles, not encouraging irrelevant conversations especially with strangers online and financial transactions have become a must in today's world where cyber security has become more important than before.

I agree that lockdown has pushed all of us to go online for each and everything. I think that is when we must be extra careful with our online activities and especially involving our family members.

Police said that Devaraj decided to end his relationship with Sravani after they learned that she was in a relationship with Sai Krishna Reddy and Ashok Reddy, a film producer.

The 26-year-old actress, came to Hyderabad to fulfil her acting dreams, got familiar to the Telugu telly audience with the daily soaps
