TV actor Sameera Sherief has grabbed the attention of the audience with the recently launched comedy show Adhirindhi featuring Nagababu Konidela as the judge. Sameera is a familiar face on Telugu and Tamil television but not many know that she never wanted to take up acting initially. Here’s a quick look at a few lesser known facts of Sameera Sherief.

Hyderabadi at heart

The 28-year-old petite anchor was born into a Muslim family in 1991. Her father is a businessman while mother is a homemaker. Despite working in different cities, she is a pakka Hyderabadi at heart.

Love for sports

Sameera never had any acting plans. She was rather interested in sports. At college, she played volleyball and cricket even at district level. But destiny had other plans.

Wanted to be a CM

Sameera even had political aspirations when she was active in sports. “As funny as it sounds, I didn’t want to take up acting, because I wanted to be the Chief Minister," she says. In fact, my original plan was to gain popularity as a sportsperson so that it would help me garner votes when I entered active politics,” Sameer told TOI. She no longer plays sports and has even dropped plans of her political foray.

First taste of success

Sameera Sherief made her acting debut at an early age with the Telugu daily soap Aadapilla. She is popular for her performances in soaps like Abhishekam, Bharyamani, Prathibimbam, Mangamma gari Manavaralu. She went on to play one of the female leads in the Tamil daily soap Pagal Nilavu.

Successful producer

Sameera turned producer for the popular Tamil daily soap Rekka Katti Parakkudhu Manasu, in which she played the female lead ‘Malar’. The show is the Tamil remake of Marathi soap Tujhyat Jeev Rangala. The show was also remade in Malayalam as Alliyambal.

Influencer

The travel enthusiast is an active vlogger and influencer in social media with over 48.2k followers on Instagram alone. She often shares vlogs on beauty, make-up, fitness and travel with her recent being her tour to the Eiffel Tower, Paris, along with her hubby Anwar.

Love of her life

Sameera Sherief got recently married to Syed Anwar, a TV actor and producer. He is known for his performances in soaps like Pagal Nilavu, Ponmagal Vandhaal et al. He co-produced Rekka Katti Parakkudhu Manasu along with Sameera. The lovebirds have been each other’s biggest support systems in life. Their pictures on their social media handles scream love.
