Kannada

actress Navya Swamy has become a much sought after name in Telugu television. Unsatisfied with the offers coming her way in Kannada television, the actress ventured into Telugu and Tamil television.

“Of course, I waited for Kannada projects to come my way. With a hit serial like Lakumi, it was but obvious that I would expect newer avenues to open up. But instead, I was met with retorts like “we are looking for a fresh face,” because clearly, they wanted to pay less and only newbies would accept such conditions,” rues Navya, who has acted in popular Telugu shows like Bharyamani, Brundavanam Naa Peru Meenakshi and Thalambralu.

“I’m doing my fifth serial right now and the treatment is infinitely better, not to forget the monetary benefits,” she says smiling. The highlight though, is that she is now also doing Tamil serials and has been signed by Radikaa Sarathkumar’s production house for “the first ever television serial in South India to film in Melbourne.” She’s understandably super thrilled. “I have just returned from a schedule in Australia along with Rayane and Radhikaa. It was such an enriching experience,“ she says.

Navya quickly adds that offers continue to come from Kannada television. “But they’re all character roles. And of course, my payment will be slashed. When I’m getting title roles in Tamil and Telugu, why would I take up those offers?” she asks.
