Rajinikanth and Ramya Krishnan starrer 'Jailer' set for world television premiere this Diwali

The sensational blockbuster of the year, 'Jailer', starring Rajinikanth and Ramya Krishnan will have its world television premiere on November 12 at 6:30 PM on the occasion of Deepavali.

The film stars Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Naga Babu, and Jani in the lead roles and also has an ensemble cast including Vinayakan, Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah, Sunil, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa Menon, Rithvik, Harshad, Jaffer Sadiq, G. Marimuthu, VTV Ganesh, Redin Kingsley, Sunil Reddy, Saravanan, Aranthangi Nisha, and Mahanadi Shankar in supporting roles.

The film was written and directed by Nelson. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander while cinematography and editing are handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan, and R. Nirmal respectively.

The movie has also performed phenomenally well domestically. As per reports, the movie has minted an impressive Rs 346.75 crore. In Karnataka, the Rajinikanth-starrer minted a whopping Rs 58 crore, while in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, it collected Rs 71 and Rs 157 crore respectively. In Kerala, the action extravaganza amassed about Rs 13 crore.

The movie revolves around, Muthuvel Pandian a retired police officer. Muthuvel's son ACP Arjun is investigating Varman, an eccentric gangster operating from his base of operations in Arakkonam, who smuggles idols of gods and sells them to buyers overseas. Arjun confronts Varman's henchman Seenu and demands him about the whereabouts of Varman. While getting closer to nabbing Varman, Arjun suddenly goes missing and the police department covers up his murder by spreading word that he may have committed suicide due to the stress. How Muthuvel Pandian spills the beans of his son's death forms the crux of the story.
