Director-turned-actor and producer Manobala, passed away today (May 3). According to reports, Manobala was admitted to a hospital in Chennai for past two weeks and undergoing treatment for liver-related issues and he breathed his last today. This news has come across as a huge shock to everyone in the Tamil film industry.
TV actress Prem Kumar, who shared a close bond with ManoBala, penned a heartfelt note for the late comedian and wrote, "A friend, philosopher and guide #manobala sir is no more it is disheartening. Very active EC member in our #nadigarsangam. A great loss to our film fraternity. Am running short of words... #ripmanobala sir true legend has left us paralyzed "
Actor Gautham Karthik took to his social media and shared the late actor's pic, he wrote, "Heartbreaking to hear that Director/Actor #Manobala sir is no longer with us. Was a true pleasure to work with you sir! You will be surely missed! Condolences to family, friends and loved ones… #RIPManobala.”
Meanwhile, director Venkat Prabhu shared a tweet, "Really shocking!!! Miss u uncle #RIPmanobala".
Monobala, who had started his career as an assistant director to the legendary filmmaker Bharathirajaa. Later the turned as a director with the movie ‘Agaya Gangai’ in 1982. He had directed hit films like Pillai Nila, Oorkavalan(starring Superstar Rajinikanth), Mallu Vetti and many other films.
He became a sought-after comic actor in the early 2000s. The actor has been part of memorable comic tracks in the film like Pithamagan, Ice, Chandramukhi, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Thamizh Padam, Alex Pandian, the Aranmanai franchise and Aambala. He has appeared in nearly 700 films. He has had hilarious collaborations with leading comic actors like Vivekh, Vadivelu, and Santhanam.
Tributes are pouring in from different quarters for the rare talent that Manobala was.
