Nadigar Sangam's celebrity cricket tournament, called Natchathira Cricket, kicked off this morning at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Eight teams-Chennai Singams (captain: Suriya), Madurai Kaalais (captain: Vishal), Kovai Kings(captain: Karthi), Nellai Dragons(captain: Jayam Ravi), Ramnad Rhinos(captain: Vijay Sethupathi), Thanjai Warriors(captain: Jiiva), Tiruchi Tigers(captain: Sivakarthikeyan), Salem Cheetas(captain: Arya)- led by some of the biggest stars in the industry are taking part in the event.
The event is being organized to raise funds to construct the new building of Nadigar Sangam. The first match is being played between between Chennai Singams and Tiruchi Tigers. Though legendary actors like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth graced the event, stars like Ajith, Vijay, Dhanush and Simbu have given it a miss. The show is being telecast live on Sun TV from 9.30 am and will be on till 10 pm.The second match will be held between Ramnad Rhinos and Kovai Kings. Superstars from other southern industries- Shivarajkumar and Nagarjuna were spotted at the event.
