Sembaruthi star VJ Kathir is one of the emerging talents of the small screen. He is steadily making his mark and carving a style of his own in Tamil TV industry.

VJ Kathir aka Kathir's real name is Kathirvel. Kathir is presently acting in the serial Sembaruthi and playing the character Arun - younger son of Akhilandeshwari. Apart from this, Kathir is hosting the game show called Jil Jung Juk.

Kathir has done many things like VJ-ing, acting in short films, hosting events etc. But, Kathir became a household name, after becoming part of the serial Sembaruthi. (Photo: Instagram)

Kathir did schooling in Gandhi Centenary Middle school, until 8th standard. Later, he studied 9th to 12th standard in Ondipudur Boys High School, Coimbatore.

Kathir joined B.Sc (Computer Science) course in Sri Jayendra Saraswathy Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts & Science, Ondipudur in Coimbatore. Due to financial constraints and other family issues, Kathir couldn’t finish the graduation. Later, Kathir discontinued his course and entered into media domain. (Photo: Instagram)

Kathir’s father Kandaswamy is a lorry driver. His mother’s name is Parameshwari, who was a Construction worker, until 2 years ago.

Kathir’s Brother Nandakumar completed his B.Sc in Chemistry. He is a paper agent and Sales Executive in Medical domain. (Photo: Instagram)

Kathir was born, brought up and did his education in Coimbatore. Kathir started his career in Coimbatore. He is very proud to be a resident Coimbatore. (Photo: Instagram)

Kathir likes to visit all the temples across Tamil Nadu. He likes to visit Valparai, Ooty, Kodaikanal and all other hill stations. (Photo: Instagram)

Kathir’s most favorite food item is the dosa made by his Mom.

During the higher secondary, Kathir has been a hyperactive sports enthusiast. He won 2nd prize in the District level - 4 x 100 metres relay, during 11th Standard.

Kathir was a good Kho Kho player too. Kathir participated in all sports and won 1st or 2nd or 3rd prize during his school days. Kathir actively took part in Musical chair, Mimicry, Essay competition, Fancy Dress Competition etc. (Photo: Instagram)

Prior to the entry into small screen, Kathir was VJ for 9 years. During this period, he has done 3000+ shows.

Apart from being VJ-ing, Kathir can also dance, do mimicry, mono-acting and much more.
