The sad demise of TV actress Chitra has taken the entertainment industry by shock. Here’s a quick rewind of TV celebs who died by suicide over the years.

VJ-turned-actress Chitra, aged 28, of Pandian Stores fame died by suicide on December 9 (today). She was found hanging in her hotel room near Nazarathpettai, Chennai.

Actress Priyanka ended her life on July 18, 2018 at her Valasaravakkam residence. She gained huge name and fame for her performance in the show Vamsam (as Jothika).

Actor Sai Prashanth, 30, reportedly died after consuming poisoned drinks on March 13, 2016. According to the latest reports, he was suffering from depression due to personal issues. He has acted in many shows like Thamarai, Ilavarasi, Annamalai and Selvi, to name a few.

P Padmaja, aged 23, was reportedly found dead in her Tiruvottiyur residence on March 1, 2020. According to police sources, she had differences with husband and moved to Andhra Pradesh a month prior to her demise. She was reportedly going through a financial crunch.

A. C. Murali Mohan aka Bala Murali Mohan, aged 54, was reportedly found hanging at his residence on June 25, 2014. He is known for his performances in the show Thendral (as Laxman) and Vamsam (as Sendhil Raja).

Actress Shobana, aged 31, died by suicide on January 10, 2011, at her residence in Kotturpuram housing board colony, Chennai. She was popular for her performance in Meendum Meendum Sirippu.

Television actor Sasikumar (43), who was a resident of Valasaravakkam, committed suicide on October 23, 2019, near Jolarpet railway station. Sasikumar was reportedly headed to Bengaluru but got down midway and ended his life at Jolarpet railway station by hanging from a tree.

Actress VJ Sabarna Anand, aged 29, was reportedly found dead in her residence at Maduravoyal, Chennai on November 11, 2016. She was popular for performances in shows Pasamalar & Sondha Bandham and Pudhu Kavidhai.

Vaishnavi, a popular TV artiste and anchor, aged 22, reportedly died by suicide at her Anna Nagar residence on April 17. She has appeared in K. Balachander’s Anni and Manaivai. She gained huge popularity with the show ‘Kondattam’.
