Films to be aired on Tamil New Year, a quick look

Tamil New Year is celebrated on April 14th every year all over the world. On account of this special day, various TV channels telecast many new films. There exists a stiff competition between TV channels in telecasting new films to attract the audience.
Three entertainment channels are telecasting five big banner films on April 14th. One channel is telecasting the film Velaikkaran and Thupparivaalan.Another channel is telecasting Kalakalappu 2 and Thaanaa Serndha Koottam. Whereas Bhaagamathie is being aired on another entertainment channel.
Velaikkaran (meaning Worker) is a 2017 Tamil social thriller film. Mohan Raja has written the story and directed the film, while R. D. Raja has produced it. The screenplay was done by Mohan Raja and Subha. This movie features Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Prakash Raj, Sneha and Vijay Vasanth in important roles. This movie was released on 22nd December 2017. It is based on the story of a sales executive named Arivu (Sivakarthikeyan) who fights against food adulteration committed by high-class companies.
Thupparivaalan (meaning Detective/Investigator) is a 2017 Tamil action thriller film which is written and directed by Mysskin. Vishal has produced the film and he also stars in the lead role. Apart from Vishal, this movie also features Prasanna, Anu Emmanuel, Andrea Jeremiah, Vinay and many others. Arrol Corelli has composed music for this film. This movie was released on 14th September 2017.
Kalakalappu 2 is a 2018 Tamil comedy-drama which was written and directed by Sundar C and produced by Kushboo. Hiphop Tamizha has scored the music for this film. It is not the sequel to the 2012 film Kalakalappu. Jiiva, Jai, Shiva, Nikki Galrani, Catherine Tresa and many others are featured in important roles. This movie was released on 9th February 2018.
Thaanaa Serndha Koottam (which means, crowd gathering on its own), is a 2018 Tamil comedy film which was directed by Vignesh Shivan and produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja. This film stars Suriya, Keerthy Suresh, Karthik, Ramya Krishnan, Senthil and Suresh Chandra Menon in leading roles. Music was composed by Anirudh Ravichander for this film, which was released worldwide on 12th January 2018.
Bhaagamathie is a 2018 horror thriller film which was written and directed by G. Ashok. Anushka Shetty, Unni Mukundan, Jayaram and Asha Sarath feature in lead roles. This film was released on 26th January 2018 in Telugu and Tamil along with the Malayalam (dubbed) version.
