Exclusive - 'Eeramana Rojave 2' actress Shravnitha Srikantha aka Shravanitha: I was offered a role in director Delhi Prasad sir's movie but my mom politely rejected

Popular TV actress Shravnitha Srikantha of ‘Thendral Vanthu Ennai Thodum’, is winning hearts with her performance as Sakthi in the popular Tamil daily soap 'Eeramana Rojave2.' In a candid chat with ETimes TV, the actress opened up about her acting journey, and more.

About playing the female lead for the first time

This is the first time I'm playing one of the leads in a daily soap. Shravnitha said the show Eeramana Rojave 2 revolves around Jeeva and Kaviya, who are lovers. Jeeva's brother and Kaviya's sister were going to get married, but there happens to be a mix-up. This results in Kaviya marrying Jeeva's brother and Jeeva marrying Kavya's sister.

Starting with the short videos

Shravanitha started her acting career with short films and went on to play one of the leads in 'Eeramana Rojave2', 'Thendral Vanthu Ennai Thodum' and more. Talking about the journey, Shravnitha said, "My acting debut was indeed an accident. My cousin has been active in the film industry, and his friend ran a YouTube channel. I just asked him if I can act in his short film. It all began there. In the short film, I happened to meet the TV actress, 'Pavithra Janani'."

Speaking about the co-artists

Shravanitha said, “I am really happy to work with such brilliant actors like Dhiraviyam Rajakumaran, Siddharth Kumaran, Swathi Konde, and Gabriella Charlton. Dhiraviyam is always a silent guy on set but once the director says action he completely changes.

What are the most valuable skills for an acting career?

Shravanitha said, "I think there are two particularly valuable skills for an actor: memorisation and the ability to observe and enact behaviours, expressions, and tones. It is also useful to have good intrapersonal skills and be able to speak and sing in various vocal styles and dialects. I have an excellent memory which is helpful for memorising lines and my expressive abilities help me to enact characters easily. I can also sing in a regional dialect, which improved my performance in a recent musical. I enjoy the rehearsal and production process because I like being around other people."

How she missed a chance in the Vijay Sethupathi starrer film

I got the opportunity to visit director Delhi Prasad sir. I got to see the big cameras and shooting environment for the first time then. There is a role for your daughter in the movie, director Delhi Prasad sir told my mother. My mom politely refused the offer because of my public examination.

About her TV debut as 'Deepthi' and the difference between TV and movies

'Deepthi' was my first role in the television industry. I'm glad I could get an important role in my very debut. To me, both small screens and big screens are the same. However, I feel conveying different shades and moods on a small screen is extremely difficult.

How do you respond to negative performance reviews?

"If the criticism is valid, I use the feedback to understand my performance and think of how to improve it in the future. If the criticism is baseless, then I try to ignore it. People are not always going to like what you do, and they have the right to express their opinions. I am grateful for all kinds of reviews, both good and bad because it would be worse to not receive any feedback at all," said Shravanitha
