Cricket stories grab attention on Vijay TV
As the World Cup fever grips cricket enthusiasts, the talk of the town is the Tamil commentary on a popular regional channel. Sharing his experience of being a member of the commentary panel, popular TV personality, Nanee, says, “This is the first time a Tamil channel is telecasting cricket World Cup matches. 36 matches are being telecast this time.
The commentary is being done by an eight-member team, including former cricketers like Hemang Badani, Sadagoppan Ramesh and Sridharan Sriram.”
According to Nanee, the team had undergone around 10 days of training. “The sessions that started in November mainly included commentary workshops. Vikas Kumar, a voice specialist, who works closely with famous commentators like Sanjay Manjrekar and Ravi Shastri, took a few sessions and gave us inputs to maintain voice and other important techniques for commentary.”
Nanee adds, “What’s challenging is to get the attention of the viewers during the middle overs of the game. The game usually gets slow, especially between the 11th and the 40th over. So, that’s the time commentators come up with interesting stories about cricket and ask experts to share their experiences on field.”
