Amarasigamani Deivasigamani

(D. Amarasigamani) passed away in the early hours of June 21 in Chennai. He was born on November 12, 1950. His son

informed that the senior actor had a mild cardiac arrest last night. Following this,

breathed his last at 4 am today morning. Amarasigamani was also suffering from Parkinson's disease over the last few years.

His last rites will be held at the Madipakkam cemetery at 4 pm. The 70-year-old actor is survived by his wife

Shyamala Devi

and 3 sons and 1 daughter.

Parthiban Amarasigamani took to his social media handle to share the news. He wrote, “It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved father

Amarasigamani is a popular face of Tamil film and television. He is known for his subtle and realistic performances.

The government of Tamil Nadu honored him with the Kalaimamani award in the “Sirantha Gunachitra Nadigar” (Best character artist) category. He was bestowed with the “Kavimaamani” award (best poet) by Bharathy Kalai Kazhagam in Chennai.

Amarasigamani is remembered for his performances in the films

On the small screen front, he is appreciated for his appearances in the shows

Amarasigamani was part of Drama troupes with Stalwarts such as Seva Stage S.V Sahasranamam, Komal Swaminathan and V.Gopalakrishnan.

Amarasigamani wrote the dialogue for the Tamil film Mudhalai, which won the National award.
