The show, Amman, is about a soothsayer and a doctor
If there’s one genre that never goes out of style, it’s mythology. Stories based on Gods and spirituality have always found takers on the big screen as well as TV. The latest one to join the league is

A source says, “Hindu mythology is a treasure trove of stories that imparts knowledge and values. Just like the rest of India, Tamil Nadu, too, is deeply rooted in mythology with its own traditions and beliefs. Among its many Gods, Amman commands a particularly special place and is revered as Mother Goddess. There are a number of stories about her power, which are a part of folklore in many parts of the state.”

The TV show revolves around a small town girl, Shakthi, who possesses supernatural powers and can even foretell the near future. “The villagers soon begin to take her words as true and follow her advice for their own prosperity. In the same village lives Eshwar, a doctor who tries to drive a wedge between Shakthi and the villagers. During this attempt, an unusual love blossoms between the two,” the source adds.

Debutants Pavithra plays Shakthi and Amaljith will be seen as Dr Eshwar. “Dance master

Jennifer

plays Shakthi’s elder sister Saradha,” says director

Ravi Priyan

. Interestingly, the show is produced by director Ahmed's (of

Endrendrum Punnagai

fame) production house.
