Amol Kolhe, Subodh Bhave and Rohini Hattangadi mourn the sad demise of historian-writer Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare; reminisce fond memories with him

Renowned historian and writer Babasaheb Purandare passed away today morning (15 Nov). Babasaheb was 99. He had been on a ventilator at a private hospital in Pune after being admitted a couple of days ago because of age-related ailments. The notable historian's sad demise has left everyone in pain, and Marathi celebs, who worked with him in the past, have expressed their grief too.

Actor, producer and director Amol Kolhe mourned the sad demise of Babasaheb and wrote, "प्रत्येक भेट कॅमेऱ्यात टिपली गेली नसेल पण स्मृतिपटलावर नक्कीच कोरली आहे."राजा शिवछत्रपती" मालिकेच्या सेटवर दिलेल्या आशीर्वादपर पसंतीच्या पावतीपासून ते अगदी मागील वर्षीच्या दिवाळसणापर्यंत अनेक ठिकाणी, अनेक निमित्ताने भेटी झाल्या. प्रत्येक भेटीत जाणवला तो जिव्हाळा आणि इतिहासाविषयी आत्मियता... इतिहासाच्या ध्यासाचं, त्याच्या भव्यदिव्य सादरीकरणाचं, चालत्या बोलत्या शिवशाहिरीचं एक शतक काळाच्या पडद्याआड गेलं...भावपूर्ण श्रद्धांजली

Actor Subodh Bhave is deeply saddened by the news. He shared the picture of Babasaheb and wrote, "छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज यांच अलौकिक चरित्र महाराष्ट्राच्या घराघरात पोचवणारे शिवशाहीर बाबासाहेब पुरंदरे यांना भावपूर्ण श्रद्धांजली" (A heartfelt tribute to Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare who brought the supernatural character of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the households of Maharashtra")

Veteran actress Rohini Hattangadi also mourned the demise of Babasaheb and shared that she is indebted to him for his immense contribution and educating people more about Shivaji Maharaj. Rohini wrote, "बाबासाहेब, लहानपणापासून तुम्हाला बघत आले. कॉलेजात असताना, तुमची शिवाजी महाराजांवरची भक्ती, प्रेम,अभिमान तुमच्या सिहगडावरच्या 'वेगात दौडले वीर मराठे' च्या कथनात जाणवली. एका कार्यक्रमात तुमच्या भाषणात, माझा 'आमची रोहिणी..' म्हणून केलेला उल्लेख ऐकून गलबलले होते. तुमचं संपूर्ण जीवन आमच्यासाठी आदर्श आहे.. ऋणी आहोत! मुजरा बाबासाहेब!"
She wrote, "Babasaheb, I have been watching you since childhood. While in college, I felt your devotion, love and pride towards Shivaji Maharaj in your story 'Vegat Daudale Veer Marathe' on Sihgad. In one of your speeches in the program, I was shocked to hear you mentioned as 'Our Rohini ..' Your whole life is ideal for us .. We are indebted! Mujra Babasaheb!"
