is ruling the roost on Marathi TV. But the show is going to have a sudden twist in the next few days.

Rasika Sunil aka
Shanaya, the lead vamp in the show will be taking an exit midway. The actress wanted to pursue her higher studies in the US and hence she had to take the vital decision.
Talking exclusively to TimesofIndia.com from the US, Rasika spoke about her Mazhya Navryachi Bayko journey. She said, “My journey on this show is unforgettable. It has been the most important phase of my life till now. The project helped me groom professionally as well as personally. It helped me discover my own capabilities and understand different dimensions of people and life.”
The actress added, “Daily soap was entirely a new medium for me. I also had some misconceptions earlier which has been cleared now.”
Rasika also shared that she has gone through immense change after playing the role of Shanaya, "I got self-aware and it boosted my self-confidence too. But the hunger to better in life will always remain with me,” she said.
Talking about her US plans, she said, “I had this plan on my mind since a long time. I am keen upon exploring different work cultures. Also, I love to know and acquaint with various lifestyles, cultures, and disciplines. So I started with our own country and got to learn a lot.”
Talking about the reaction of makers when she announced her decision to take an exit, Rasika said, “Honestly, the makers of the show are the coolest. Initially, I was little apprehensive to tell but they understand that this is a move for my growth. So they gave me an instant go ahead.”
Rasika also shared the memorable moments during her Mazhya Navryachi Bayko journey. “I was cast in the serial at the last moment. The shoot of the first episode was scheduled on the second day itself. I was totally clueless about my character and completely relied upon the makers for my scenes. But in one of the episodes, when Atharva was down with fever and Garry came to my place, I asked Garry to get a mobile phone for me. I literally jumped out of excitement and that was the moment when everyone appreciated me for bringing out the real Shanaya in me,” she said.
The actress also spoke about her bonding with her co-actors. “Anita (Radhika) is like my elder sister and so, firstly I discussed my plans of higher studies with her. She was the one who supported and motivated me. On the other hand, Abhijeet (
Gurunath
) was neutral towards my decision. He got busy in the hunt for a new Shanaya,” explained Rasika.
Rasika got nostalgic about the two year bond with the role Shanaya, She revealed, “I have taken Shanaya with me. The character's craziness will stay with me for lifetime. Also, I have written a lot on my social media profiles on what I feel about Shanaya. I can just say that Shanaya and I are inseparable.”
Rasika signed off saying, “Seeing the response that I am receiving on social media, I feel that my responsibility definitely grew. I really don’t know, when I will return from the US but I assure to always stay connected with my fans through my upcoming projects that are already in the post-production phase.”
