Irom Sharmila is welcome to stay in my place: Renuka

Activist Irom Sharmila who recently called off her 16-year long fast finds it difficult to find a place to live as several residents of Manipur, including her own family who feel that the activist broke her promise and gave in early on her fight against the draconian rule of the AFSPA. While some feel betrayed by her decision to end her fast, others have refused to provide her with shelter based on security concerns.Amidst all the furore, Marathi actor Renuka Shahane who was last seen in ‘Comedychi Bullet Train’ announced on her Facebook account that Irom Sharmila is welcome to stay at her place in Mumbai. Shahane showed her support for Sharmila and her "chosen form of protest" in her post, “Irom Sharmila if you have no place that is willing to accept you please stay with me in Mumbai, it will be an honour! All those human rights & anti AFSPA "activists" who were happy and supportive only when you had a tube attached to your nose for force-feeding or only when you were facing the wrath of the state with courage, are not worth a second thought. She ended by saying, “It is a sad commentary on the fascism of people who ironically are fighting for human rights! They should try being human first.”
