Lokmanya to Savitrijoti, Marathi historical shows that ended abruptly due to low TRP

Historical shows always cater to a specific niche audience that is interested in history and mythology. In Marathi TV, several such shows failed to resonate with a wider audience and attract enough viewership, which can lead to low TRP ratings. In recent times, strong subject-oriented shows like Lokmanya, Satyavan Savitri, and others ended abruptly for such reasons. Take a look

Lokmanya

Kshitish Date and Spruha Joshi's Lokmanya was based on Bal Gangadhar Tilak, wrapped up. Despite getting critically acclaimed, the show struggled to maintain high TRP ratings and concluded within six months. The entire team of the show shared their grief on social media while bidding adieu to the show.

Satyavan Savitri

The devotional show, which had the basics of history and Puranas, was launched with a lot of expectations but has failed to entertain the viewers since its launch. Satyavan Savitri aired 48 episodes and went off-air in just one month after its launch. The show starred Vedangi Kulkarni as Savitri and Aditya Barve as Satyavan. The show could not secure its place in the TRP charts.

Swarajya Saudamini Tararani

The historical TV show Swarajya Saudamini Tararani had increased the expectations of the viewers with its promos, but after the premiere, the show failed to entertain despite having a famous star cast. The show was all about the tough journey of Maharani Tararani, who fought a battle with the Mughals after the death of Shivaji Maharaj.

Swamini

TV show Swamini entertained the viewers in the initial days but later could not win their hearts. A little girl named Rama gets married into a prominent household during the Peshwa period. Constantly pining for her home, she has to quickly learn how to live with her new family. Later, how she becomes Ramabai and supports Madhavrao Peshwe during battles was shown in the show.

Savitrijoti

One of the most talked-about shows, Savitrijoti, created controversy when the makers announced its end. The actors of the show were also disappointed with its sudden wrap-up due to low TRP but shared their grief on various social media portals. Despite its intriguing storyline, the show faced low TRP ratings and ended after a relatively short run. The show was based on Savitribai Phule and Jyotiba Phule.
