The much-awaited finale of Indian Idol Marathi judged by renowned composer Ajay-Atul has concluded on a high note with a grand gala finale. An engineer from Panvel, Sagar Mhatre emerged as the winner of Indian Idol Marathi. Sagar Mhatre was crowned as the winner of the first season of the show with a vote bank sufficient enough to put him at the top of the table.

The much-awaited finale of Indian Idol Marathi judged by renowned composer Ajay-Atul has concluded on a high note with a grand gala finale. An engineer from Panvel, Sagar Mhatre emerged as the winner of Indian Idol Marathi.
Sagar Mhatre was crowned as the winner of the first season of the show with a vote bank sufficient enough to put him at the top of the table.

Sagar was one of the most talked-about contestants on the show who has a classical background. Sagar is an engineer by profession and loves to modify bikes which are his passion. Along with this, Sagar Mhatre has a unique voice. The judges of the show Ajay-Atul have often praised Sagar for his perfect command over melody and range. They also opined that Sagar is perfect as a playback singer.
On the Grand Finale, Sagar has said that he feels privileged to be on the show and he never imagined that he would be able to participate in the show. Sagar also said that nobody knew his family and house in his area in Panvel but when he was featured in Indian Idol Marathi everyone started knowing his parents and people often visit his house.
For the unversed, Indian Idol Marathi's Shweta Dandekar became second runner-up and won the cash prize of 2 lakhs, Jagdish Chavan became the first runner-up and winner Sagar won a gift voucher from a renowned jewelry brand and 5 lakhs Rs cheque. Sagar also took the golden trophy home.
