Meghna Vincent makes comeback to Malayalam TV in an impish new role

is thrilled to be back on Malayalam TV after nearly four years in a new show, titled

Mrs Hitler

. She plays the title character, a bubbly young woman, who is prone to run into trouble, and looks set to romance the widowed ‘Hilter’ played by Shanavas Shanu.

“I am keen to return to Malayalam through a good project and I was lucky to be able to do so; I am really grateful for this opportunity,” says Meghna, who had won the hearts of Malayalam viewers as Amrutha in the long-running serial,

. “I had received opportunities before, but was not in a position to take them up, because I was busy with my serial and reality show and then the lockdown was declared. But, like they say, it has worked out for the best.” In Tamil, apart from Ponmagal Vanthal, Meghna was the winner on the dance reality show, Jodi No 1 Season 10.

“With Jyothirmayi in Mrs Hitler, I am enjoying playing a character that I haven’t done before. She is playful and runs into trouble, but stands her ground saying that she meant to do good. It is a nice challenge to do,” says Meghna.

While the actress points out that her present character is poles apart from Amrutha, she says that she has enjoyed both. “Amrutha gave me my big break. I played her in Malayalam and Tamil for nearly four years, and if someone calls the name Amrutha, I will turn around and look, I am so attached to it. But I like playing both roles,” she says, adding that she loves the Mrs Hitler team.

How different is it working in the Malayalam and Tamil industries? “Of course each industry has its own style of working, but as an artiste, I have the camera in front of me and I perform. That’s all I have to be concerned with. I love acting wherever I am,” she says.

Since the lockdown, Meghna has also kept busy with making YouTube videos on a variety of personal topics, from her sari collection to a day in her life, which have been hugely popular. “The audience has been so accepting of me and I am very grateful for that. It feels so good that they have accepted me back with open arms in Malayalam after so many years. It’s like the bonding of true friends and I feel blessed to experience this,” she says.
